Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour shopping paradise, has everything, and we mean everything, one could possibly need. Brightly lit and sticking out like a sore thumb in Little India, this haunt is jam-packed with all sorts of people. From jet-lagged tourists, to nocturnal locals, it’s Singapore’s version of Walmart - exotica.
Did You Know : Mustafa was built over an area that housed 20 shophouses? It now has 6 levels of retail space and 3 newly-added wings. So a playbook is in order! Here’s our friendly list to help you navigate this maze of a mega-mall!
Start from the bottom up:
Level B2: you can find toys galore, from remote cars and helicopters to dolls, sport equipment and bicycles. Here you’ll also find the electronics department where you can buy mobile phones, laptops, printers, LED TVs, the list goes on.
Level B1: has all the fashion apparel and footwear for men, women and children. It’s great for those moments when you just need a new pair of comfortable shoes for all the walking. Also found on this level are gold and diamond jewellery – bracelets, rings, chains, gold bars, for all your gold needs.
Level 1: is where you’ll find all your toiletries, cosmetics, perfumes and even medical equipment like wheelchairs, over-the-counter medicines and a pharmacy. You can even get milk powder and diapers here too so it’s a great tip for any emergency diaper run!
Level 2: is where you’ll be able to get your every spice, rice, biscuits and ready-made sauces if you’re looking to take home something other than a Merlion magnet; which can also be found here if you are looking for one. On the other end, you can find a range of luggage; you may need one more after all your shopping.
Level 3: takes you to household items like curtains, blankets and crockery. A vast area of cleaning products cover this floor, so unless you’re looking for disinfectants, swing on up to the next level.
Level 4: is where you’ll find more houseware such as carpets, privacy screens, vases, table mats and loads of other knick-knacks. Here there are at least 4 lanes of stationery, so you’ll be able to find staples in every size, folders in every colour and pencils in every shade. There are also party ware and decorations so it’s a perfect stop if you’re planning a birthday party for friends and family.
End off your late night with a cup of masala tea at the Mustafa Cafe.
WR Tip: Who’d have guessed, there’s a money changer and post office here too!
