From Pattaya attractions to tips on how to get to Pattaya, this is a hassle-free guide to help you plan a short trip from Bangkok to Pattaya. Find out more!

Watersports, beaches and nightlife. Head to the coast for a quick getaway from city life.

If it’s so hot in Bangkok, why not get undressed? I’m not saying you should do that in the city, but in just 2.5 hours, you can soak in the sun clad in clothes more suitable for the weather and take a dip in the deep blue ocean to refresh yourself. You can spend a day in Pattaya if getting a nice tan is your main impetus, but there are actually many other things to do there which warrants more than just a day. That’s why it has become a hot alternative to Bangkok itself. Nevertheless, here’s our guide on what you can squeeze in a day, if that’s really all the time you are spending there.

WHAT TO SEE

Choose between going to Pattaya Beach or the Cartoon Network Amazone. The latter comes with a fee but you can meet your favourite cartoon characters from the channel, such as the Bare Bears and the Powerpuff girls. Both places get you wet in the kid-friendly way and will take up half of your day, at least. It is worth mentioning that you can also spend half your day (or most of it) at Coral Island. You can hop on a ferry from Pattaya Beach to escape the crowd for a more serene experience. If you start splashing around early you might be able to visit the Sanctuary of Truth, a one-of-a-kind teak structure that is a sight to behold. Thankfully for us, the Pattaya Floating Market doesn’t happen just in the mornings like most places. Meet over 100 vendors selling their wares on traditional boats and canoes. Hire a man-powered boat to get a 30-minute experience. Since you are going up Pratumnak Hill, go take a look at the 18-metre tall golden Buddha at Wat Phra Yai Temple. Whether or not you are still in time for sunset, you should head to the Pattaya Viewpoint for a breathtaking moment. You will get that classic shot of Pattaya’s cresent-shaped bay. End your night at the Walking Street which will be the place to go for lots of neon-lit backgrounds in your selfies. You can satiate your hunger and thirst and of course do some shopping in the midst of a busy and fun atmosphere.

HOW TO GET TO PATTAYA

Hope into a car for a ride of less than 2 hours, or a train for a ride that’s an hour longer. A bus will take the same time as a train as you’d need to change buses. The latter option is popular though, as buses depart from the Eastern, Southern and Northern Bus Terminals. Pattaya is a very popular destination and you won’t have a lack of options for travel.
