Singapore is known as an expensive place. However, you can have fun even with no money to spare. Here is a list of things to do in Singapore for FREE!

“Nothing in life comes for free”, you may say. But we’re here to prove you wrong! Saving up for an overseas trip is one of the hardest things to do. You buy one less portion of food, hold yourself back from buying that shirt you wanted, and take the train instead of a taxi on rainy days. Well, you don’t have to do all that to save up that extra cent anymore because in an expensive country like Singapore, there’s actually lots of free things to do!

Discover the Diversity of Religions

Singapore is known for being a multi-racial country. Hence, there’s no doubt that we’re a multi-religious nation too. You can find places of worship all over the country. The architecture of some of the buildings are so majestic, you may spend longer than you should trying to capture an #instaworthy picture. But bear in mind that you’re in a holy space, and most importantly, remember the 3S – NO Sleeveless, Shorts or Slippers!

Reserve your spot with a mat!

What better way to end your day than watching the sunset with some food? These ideal picnic areas have free entry and each place offers a spectacular view of Singapore’s cityscape. The only unpleasant thing we predict out of this experience would probably be the wind messing up your hair – so for ladies, bring a rubber band and for gents, spam the hair gel!

Trek Your Calories Away!

The cityscape isn’t the only stunning view in Singapore. Spend your morning trekking through flora and fauna, and be rewarded with breath-taking views of Singapore’s skyline. Popular areas to snap #instaworthy photos would be at the “TreeTop Walk” in MacRitchie Reservoir Park and “Henderson Waves” at The Southern Ridges. But really, anywhere along the hiking trail is a beautiful sight. Besides, this is an effective way to lose the calories that you’ve gained from indulging in Singapore’s delicious local cuisine!

Appreciate the Arts

Concert tickets these days cost a bomb. Art galleries are appealing to the eye, but not to the wallet. If you’re an art lover, this could very much be the biggest dilemma of your life when you visit Singapore – spend on art or food? We’ll make that decision for you; spend on food, because there are options to admire art for free, but we can’t say the same for food!

The Unexpected Theme Park

When you think “theme park”, you think rollercoasters, mascot parades, and screams of joy and laughter. Haw Par Villa brings a whole new definition to “theme parks”. Go on a ‘rollercoaster’ journey through the Ten Courts of Hell, where intimidating statues of Chinese folklore and mythology stare down at you, and the only screams you’ll probably hear are screams of fear.

Take Advantage of the Perpetual Sun

Since we’re stuck with a tropical climate and it is burning hot almost all year round, why not make full use of it? Honestly speaking, Singapore’s beaches stand nowhere near to those in our nearby neighbours like Bali. The beaches here may not be all that majestic and exotic with surfing waves and beautiful rock pools, but they boast cleanliness and the activities you can do are endless – sunbathing, building sandcastles, beach volleyball, beach soccer, frisbee, we leave that up to your creativity!
