1. Moksa Plant-based Cuisine & Permaculture Garden

Even carnivores would not regret experiencing the Moksa “Dojo” or the “seat of wisdom”. This plant-based restaurant is a hit with vegans and hippies on the permaculture wave. Their menu boasts of finely adapted fusion items such as the cardamom caramelized tempeh and eggplant rendang. Moksa even conducts culinary classes if you want to bring their recipes home!

New mama in the Ubud hood, Ibu Susu has already garnered rave reviews. Translated as “Mother’s Milk”, this restaurant's menu pays homage to its Balinese roots along with a generous touch of what we call “Modern Melbourne”. Their all-day brunches and pan-asian cuisine as well as their innovative cocktails - How does a salted caramel espresso martini and pomelo smoke negroni sound? - are clearly designed to make you say “come to mama”.

The restaurant is an experiential space where you can relax, shop, and enjoy their carefully crafted menu. They serve delightfully concocted recipes such as the Ayam Vegan Nuggets and Big salad bowls with organic red rice or chilled rice noodles with your choice of skewers. 4. Warung Sanur Segar

Get ready to Sombrero & Surf, as this place serves up Mexican food with an Indonesian twist. This place is for daylight sojourners only, as they close at 7pm. An intimately-spaced restaurant in Sanur, their menu may be limited, but their use of local ingredients in their delightful interpretation of Mexican delights packs a punch and gives you loads to taco about. Don’t forget to try their Taco Rendang and quesadillas when you are there. We playfully suggested they call themselves Burri-Indo. You heard it here first!

Food in Bali that we loved: tortilla / wraps in Warung Sanur Segar. Their unique chicken / beef wrap that comes with fresh veggies was not only delicious but also very affordable ♥
